SAMBA and hostname question

In the process of trying to debug a problem with SAMBA I installed the
latest version (Samba 1.9.18p2). Unfortunatley after installing thi
version I now have a new problem. Prior to this installation when typing in
the command:

smbclient -L LinuxServer

I would receive a response which would include my host name LinuxServer.
Now however it now says that when it uses the "Get_Hostbyname" call, it says 
"unknown host LINUXSERVER". However if I type "hostname" at my system prompt
it says "LinuxServer". Is this new version of SAMBA using a different system 
call or configuration file? Thanks for any assistance offered.
