Problem getting Samba running

I've installed Samba v18p2 on a SGI workstation.  This is the result of
my diagnosis testing.

Test 1
Passed

Test 2
Passed

Test 3
Passed
IP looks good, subnet 255.255.255.0 looks good, shares look right  etc.

Test 4
Failed
SAMBA not found

Test 5
Passed

Test 6
Failed
'name' not found

Test 7
Passed

Test 8
Failed
Received "access denied" error

Test 9
Failed
Received "access denied" error

Test 10
Failed
Samba server does not appear in my browse list.


I've tried resolving this by myself.  I would appreciate any help.
