I'm not using NIS+. But I did find a solution. I created the smbpasswd file with an image of /etc/passwd using the mksmbpasswd.sh script. And now it works perfectly. I seem to need this file set up even if I have encrypted passwords turned off. I'm not sure why this is necessary, but I'm not complaining. Thanks, Tim
