Problems with smbpasswd

I've compiled the latest version of samba (1.9.18p4) and set up password
encryption (per instructions in the ENCRYPTIONS.txt file). Setting root's
smbpasswd worked with no problems. I set another user (me) with an
smbpasswd. Tried "smbclient -L '\\hostname\wwinzer'". The output is the

68 wwinzer at Sun-E3000:~ ==> smbclient '\\\wwinzer'
Added interface ip= bcast= nmask=
Server time is Fri Apr 10 00:28:40 1998
Timezone is UTC-7.0
Session setup failed for username=WWINZER myname=SUN-E3000
destname=CHAMPUSA.COM ERRSRV - ERRbadpw (Bad password - name/password pair in
a Tree Connect or Session Setup are invalid.)
You might find the -U, -W or -n options useful
Sometimes you have to use `-n USERNAME' (particularly with OS/2)
Some servers also insist on uppercase-only passwords

I looked in the /usr/local/samba/private/smbpasswd and the 32-bit
encryption is in place.

This is root's output of "smbclient -L":

112 root at Sun-E3000:/usr/local/samba/private ==> smbclient -L
Added interface ip= bcast= nmask=

        ---------            -------

It only works for user "root" and no other user. The goal is to have
all users the ability to use SAMBA.

Thanks in Advance.
