On a samba server  

/usr/local/samba/bin/smbstatus | grep xx.xx.xx.xx

or from a PC

nbtstat -A  xx.xx.xx.xx

or I have some alpha code that will do a netbios status from 
a unix box.  See the SAMBA digest 1470 for more info.
