Adding a PPP interface - how?

this seems very simple but I can not get my Samba server to broadcast
through its PPP interface.
My Samba server has two interfaces: eth0 (22.214.171.124) and ppp0
(126.96.36.199). On the other side of the PPP link I have another
Samba server with two network interfaces as well: eth0 (172.17.0.10)
and ppp0 (188.8.131.52).
I want Samba to broadcast through both interfaces but so far everything I've
tried has failed misserably.
In the Samba server with interfaces in different sub-networks (172.17.x.x
and 130.151.x.x) I have:
interfaces = 172.16.0.10/255.255.0.0 184.108.40.206/255.255.255.128
and it works _fine_ (broadcasts are sent through the PPP link).
However, on the server with both interfaces in the same sub-network I
have tried several combinations for "interfaces = " like:
interfaces = 220.127.116.11/255.255.255.128 18.104.22.168/255.255.255.128
interfaces = 22.214.171.124/255.255.255.128 126.96.36.199/255.255.255.128
interfaces = 188.8.131.52/255.255.255.128 184.108.40.206/255.255.255.255
with no luck at all (no broadcasts sent through the PPP link as seen
I think the problem comes from the fact that _both_ interfaces _are_
on the same sub-network (220.127.116.11, netmask 255.255.255.128).
However, Samba doesn't allow to specify interfaces by name so how the heck
I can tell Samba to broadcast through my specific PPP interface, or
putting it in different words: through different interfaces in the
Thanks in advance for any help.
