Correct restart of Samba

Hi!
What is the correct way to restart Samba - just kill the processes and
start it again?

Or should I clean up something in the locks directory? Are the files in
there (SHARE_MEM_FILE, SHARE_MEM_FILE.processes, STATUS..LCK) wrong a
restart or are they cleaned up by Samba?
