My printer is connected via usb cable with this PC. On this PC I run also virtualbox with a "windows 7" VM (32bit). My goal: --------- When my "windows 7 VM" is running, I want to use the printer from Linux. What I have done: ----------------------- SAMBA: Here are my SAMBA settings. (Please click the link. It will lead you to a gif- animation): --> https://abload.de/image.php?img=sambaeinstellungenh0j5f.gif VirtualBox: -Oracle VM VirtualBox Manager-> File-> host-only network manager-> create -activated DHCP-Server -Oracle VM VirtualBox Manager-> Machine-> change-> network-> Tab adapter 1-> activate host-only adapter There are 3 issues: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Issue 1: I start the windows 7 VM. I start the file manager. I click the "network" folder. So sometimes I have under "network" a folder that contains all the printers from the host (and also the PDF folder). Sometimes I have both not. So I then restart the VM and when I have luck, then I have them after the restart. So sometimes I have them, but sometimes not. Issue 2: I start the VM. I start the file manager. I click the "network" folder. I make sure that the printers and the PDF folder appear there. I click the "PDF" folder. I try to rename one of the files in the PDF folder. Message: \Mx\pdf could not be accessed. You do not have permission to access \Mx\pdf. Contact the network administrator to request access. Issue 3: I start the VM. I start the file manager. I click the "network" folder. I make sure that the printers appear there. I open "Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers" and press the button "add printer". After: "Add network printer". This way I get a list with all my printers from the host. I select the one I want. Message: No driver found. So: I'll grab the driver from the CD. I now have the printer in windows 7. For example also in Wordpad. So it looks all is how it should be. But now, I open Wordpad select this new printer and try to print. But the print get stuck in the windows print-queue: -> see -> https://abload.de/image.php?img=warteschlangewindowsgdnjqk.jpg Nothing goes out to the host. It does not print: Question: What am I doing wrong? Would appreciate some help. Thank you. You seem to have a problem involving Samba and VMs, not VMS (aka OpenVMS; see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenVMS ), an entirely different topic. I'm afraid we can't help you here with that. Sorry. Yes I have then misunderstood "Samba for the VMS operating system". I thought that this means "Samba together with Virtual Machine Systems". Sorry. So I guess the mailing list "General questions regarding Samba" would be the right one?
