Beginner question on setting passwords

Hi,

Not sure if this is what you want, but:

smbpasswd -a <user> (to add a user)
smbpasswd -e <user> (to enable a user)

smbpasswd -h will give you a short list of relevant commands. 
Hopefully, this will get you started in the right direction.
