Hi, all.

I'm looking for volunteers to help with a couple of news.samba.org
reports I'd like to implement. If you're looking for a way to help out
around here and you frequent samba-technical at lists.samba.org or
#samba-technical, then read on. Otherwise, feel free to delete and move on.

I'm wanting to implement a weekly report of the activity that takes
place on this list and on #samba-technical. I would prefer to have a
volunteer for each venue -- one person to keep track of activity on the
mailing list, another for IRC. Once a week, say on Saturday or Sunday,
you would submit a summary of the week's activities to me, which I would
then commit to news.samba.org. This would be something akin to Debian
Weekly News, Kernel Traffic, etc. You would, however, be free to
develop your own approach.

My goal here is to offer a record of Samba activity, with all the
inconsequential bits removed. If your interested, you really need to be
self-motivating and dependable. Multiple volunteers could handle the
same assignment and rotate weeks. In fact, this may be the preferred
method. I'm imagining someone other than a Team member for this, so as
not to distract from regular development. Though if a Team member
wanted to give a periodic (monthly?, every other month?) report on where
Samba3 and Samba4 development is headed, that would be a nice
news.samba.org feature.

Let me know if this interests you. I'm also open to discussions about
the idea. Cheers,
