 What is "a big file" ?
 Can you *carefully* check the setting of network card(s) ?
 When a connection between repeater/switch/router and end node
is improperly set with regards to the half/full duplex
setting - you can observe problems like this (files up to
tens kB copying OK, biggest files can be aborted).
