Jean-Yves,

Thanks, I downloaded this version, completely deleted the previous release,
and recompiled on VMS 7.3-1. SWAT came up on the first try - it didn't
before, and my users are reporting it's about twice as fast as the previous
release.

Thanks for all your hard work in doing this port.
Mike Ober.

Hi.

I finally added the SAMBA_ROOT identifier stuff. Most of you preffered that
option. Some of you proposed a lot of other things, such as "If the user has
such and:or such privilege(s)". I guess it's better to stay as simple as
possible : all users holding the SAMBA_ROOT identifier is considered as root
by samba, and that's it.

In addition, the installation procedure now creates the SAMBA_ROOT
identifier (is needed), and automatically grants it to the SYSTEM user.

In addition, I corrected very surprising problems, which I encountered
mostly (but not only) on VAX. The result was a corrupted CONNECTIONS.TDB
file, which provoqued very unexpected results, such as SMBD process crashes,
"maximum number of connections reached" messages, and others...
This problem occured after or during many simulteaneous connections (may be
10 or so).

The new kit (dated 3-Oct-2002) is now available.

Jean-Yves
