I can't help you with the VMS Samba 2.0.6 compilation issues (I'm not a VMS
person), but just FYI, unless your site security policy forbids it, you
could contemplate applying the NT4 & W2K registry edits (distributed with
Samba) that allow Windows to negotiate plain-text passwords with Samba.

Of course, you *would* be better off with encrypted passwords from a
security point of view ...
