Initial problems.

Hi!  (and Thanks Eckart and John for your answers).

I'v now replaced the 2.0.3 kit (from
http://www.ifn.ing.tu-bs.de/ifn/sonst/samba-vms.html,
which should (?) be the official SAMBA-VMS home page)
with a 2.0.6 kit (from the OVMS freeware CD ver 5 kit).
The 2.0.6 kit was build just fine.

I'v also found some more information (a FAQ) where
e.g the "/flags=listen" was mentioned.

So, right now, it's running and I can browse and
connect to my shares.

The only "problem" right now, is that it so slooow.

It takes aprox 20 sec. to open a 100k PDF file from
a share. The server CPU is at 100% during most of
this delay (with very litle disk I/O). Seems to be
quite CPU intensive. The new file cache in VMS 7.3
works realy well, I have > 90% read hit rate.

Anyway, so far so god.

Hi.
I'v just installed Samba 2.0.3 on my VMS system.

VMS 7.3
TCPIP 5.1 ECO3
DEC 2000 model 300

One single client with WIN-98 connected to the VMS server
through a "mini-hub" using 10Base-T. Works OK with PING
and TELNET.
I'v run the REG file to enable plaintext passwords.

When doing "NET VIEW" from the PC I can "see" the Samba server.

When doing "NET VIEW \\my_server", I get a "Error 86: <some
message about a wrong network password>"

I doing ""NET VIEW \\my_server" a second time directly after
the first, I get "Error 53: The specifyed computer name can't be found..."

In the LOG files I get a number of differeant warnings and error.
If anything of the messages below make any meaning, I'd like to
know that :-)
