Random Samba patches (fighting the flapping, getting things done)

It is a bit of a odd-and-sods but there are Samba patches to review at

I'm trying to get them to pass CI here:

(But naturally when trying to improve CI, CI decides to make things
difficult).

Please comment, possibly review and perhaps push ;-)
