Custom PAM module to use in Samba

Hi all

Is it technically possible to create a custom PAM module and plug it in
into Samba for Windows, MacOSX, Linux client authentication and shares
access?

My PAM would require plain password to carry out authentication.
Is this something it would be possible to do considering things like lanman
and NTLM protocols?
Any pointers much appreciated.
