[PATCH] Selftest improvements

Hi everyone,


A couple of improvements to selftest are attached. Aside from the first
one which removes an old unused feature, we have a
(functionally-equivalent) change of the inter-environment-dependency
system. This lays groundwork for some future work described in the
commit message, and removes some messy code. The second patch changes
the behavior of --(in|ex)clude-env so that progress reporting is correct
for runs using those.
