Certainly, which way did you come in ?? :-D

But seriously, this sounds like a bug and it also seems there is a bug 
report for a similar problem, see:

https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11858

It should work if you replace '-U%' with '-U avalidusername'
