I was given an experimental linux build of PVS (its currently
advertised as windows only) after sending some emails back and forth
to the devs as I was really interested and impressed by the tool. I have
(had actually) a 2 weeks license during which I wrote a tool to use
their provided build easily [1] and scanned samba. *Lots* of output,
lots of false-positive but many good finds, still going thru the
results...

I'll write a more detailed feedback somewhere online when I'm done (for
which I should get an extended license).

Agreed, but we'll have to pay to use this one regularly as they don't
offer free licenses for open source projects. I don't have much
experience with coverity but I must say PVS is quite smart.
