Attached is such a log.  I realise it is still hard to line up with the
exact failure, but hopefully you can make some sense of it.  

This was reproduced using just a one-shot run of the test on Ubuntu
14.04, and I can get you access to this VM, as it is hosted in the
Catalyst Cloud.

We got the logs by forcing smbd to run with -d10 by patching
file_server/fileserver.c.
