Happy to help. A little return for not pushing your patches :-)

Having listened to a talk about NFS (v3 and v4) and "the impossibility
to work together" I more and more come to the conclusion that SMB2 is
the way to go even for pure Linux environments. NFS just sucks so badly
in larger deployments also involving end-users that we need something
better rather sooner than later!
