I am tempted to let it come to that... ;-)

Seriously, apologies! But I have not forgotten!
I have started looking and thinking, but was not
able to finish it.

First comment:

Apart from the fact that I still need to convince
myself that your patch covers all cases, I kind of
still think the fix should be in ctdb, like I and
metze have been discussing in the past to introduce
a new flag in the record flags that marks a record
'deleted' (or, 'active'). The original concern was
that samba (dbwrap_ctdb) needs a simultaneous change,
but that change has imho gone, since ctdb and samba
are now tied together.

I will look at your patch and possibly send an
alternative one as well.
