I'm pretty sure I've seen the case where permissions prohibited
entries being added to DNS. IIRC, it spams the log file at the default
log level.  I may have completely imagined that, but I'm pretty sure I
saw it a couple of years ago on a relatively vanilla install packaged
by Sernet.
