Hmmm, I don't have direct evidence, but looking at the allocation size
and end-of-file on a Create Response in a capture I have for a vhdx
file it would seem that they do not set them sparse, because they are
both 10GB in this case.
Let me look at another.
Also, I seem to recall that I had to handle the set sparse stuff correctly.
