i think this is the most transparent way to go. also people can see which
version they have to update to in the bug report in case this bug will get
fixed. when it gets fixed also the reference in the man page will be removed of
course.

an explaination in the man page is static and by far not as nice as the
reference to the bug report which has most background information and will
receive updates :-)
