Curious problem with CIFS on AIX

We are seeing an AIX system unable to authenticate because we respond
to the NegProt with LANMAN 1.0 as the selected protocol, even though
the client said that it also supported NT LM 0.12. As a result the
client wants to use NTLM not NTLMv2 auth.

This seems to be because they also said they support Samba and we
stopped when we saw Samba.

Is this a known issue? I am trying to use 'min protocol = NT1' as a
way to force the selection of NT LM 0.12 and thus force NTLMv2.
