While I can't really comment on this specific issue, let me
point out that Samba master has seen some really significant
performance improvements, in particular for small CPUs.
Just last week I did a comparison of 4.0.something against
master with async I/O, and the user-space CPU had dropped by
roughly half. This was a bit comparing Apples and Oranges,
but the changes were significant. So it might be worth a
look at master, in particular as there will pretty soon be
patches to use tdb mutexes instead of fcntl for tdb locking.
