Project Idea Question

Hello,

I was browsing the samba wiki's Google Summer of Code Ideas page, and saw
one project idea that seemed intriguing ("*Create GUI or command-line tools
for displaying /proc/fs/cifs statistics and and mount/session status*"). I
have a couple questions about it; the wiki directed me to the IRC, but
there seems to be no activity there. The specific project idea also said to
contact Steve French, but I couldn't really find any way to do that either.
So here's my 3rd try at contacting!
