I still believe you are mistaken in that understanding.  Regardless the
code I point to is clearly demonstrated to be unused. 

The only reference to samba3sam I can find in our code is in the tests
for this abandoned effort, maintained because those tests are the best
tests we have for ldb_map, which may still be useful for other related
efforts. 

We may well, in the future, use samba3sam or another ldb_map
implementation to make it easier to migrate from pdb_ldap backends with
extra data to Samba as an AD DC, but currently it is just an abandoned
research project.
