You said you were on Centos 6.3 - any reason not to upgrade to Centos
6.5?

yum update

That should give you samba 3.6.9-167.el6_5

edit /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Debuginfo.repo to enable that repository,
then

yum install samba-debuginfo

That will give you the debug info, so you can use gdb.
