holds my current work in progress. This is obviously not
push-ready, it has a "scratch" commit msg and no
signed-off-bys. It does not address the POLLRDHUP issue yet,
but many of the other issues should be resolved.

We might want to add a periodic messaging_dgm_wipe in smbd.
