For the fsid patch the biggest problem is the cached answer doesn't work.
I'll take a second look at it, wild guess is that it's not liking some
special character in the string or something like that.
Otherwise to be on the safe side we can always keep the test as-is with
an additional condition to use the alternative when cross-compiling.
