Hi Andrew,

I've filled a bugzilla: https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9911
I've tried to build Samba 4.0.6 with waf and autoconf build system.
I've errors with both build system.

John Janosik (another IBMer using Samba with IBM AFS) also seems to have
issues to compile Samba 4.0.6 with waf instead of autoconf build system

Hi Andew,

I already have a test Samba server.
Depending the frequency on which a test is required and the availability
of the systems on older OS, it could be possible to test the fixes.
However, I'm still very far of having a Samba 4.0.x or Samba master build
running correctly in our environment.
So I hardly see how I could test this patch in a short/mid term.

I believe I could probably start by opening a bugzilla, in which I would
describe my OS level, build environment and build errors until I've been
able to complete a first build with default configure flags and no custom
patch.

Correct. And we could keep that if needed.

Are you in a position to add a test server, that you could connect
clients to? As we plan to keep plaintext password support, it would
help us maintain it with you, because we could test fixes and ensure
things don't break your network.

I was proposing to change master, perhaps for 4.1 or perhaps to give
notice in 4.1 for a change later (I'm not on a warpath here, just trying
to keep an eye on code that may no longer have users).

Thanks,

Andrew Bartlett
