Anybody using "perfcount" modules?

Seems to me as if the only real user was removed
when the Isilon modules were removed from the tree a while ago
and so only the example code is left (that is only built when
running with configure.developer).

As we do not have any other in-tree modules, I think you can
modify the interface as you need.
