Patch vs upgrade

The patch takes a 4.0.5 code tree to a 4.0.6 code tree, and, if you
have previously compiled 4.0.5, might save some of the
compiling/linking. However, if the patch touches .h files, anything
that includes those is going to be rebuilt.
