Thanks. I have spent a lot of time testing this issue
and working on the tests, and I'm pretty confident
this is the right way to fix the problem.

If someone can give me a packet trace of us failing
a read with this patchset I'll of course reconsider,
so feel free to test lots of different clients with
this patchset and see if you can get it to fail :-).
