Scanner domain gets remapped, host is FreeBSD with Samba 3.6.1

Hi Folks,

I have a Ricoh MFP that is trying to scan to a share hosted by Samba, which authenticates against the domain.

The Ricoh is configured to use a "SMB" user, and according to the logs on the FreeBSD file host, it provides the user without a domain. This works for me because I have the default domain declared, however Samba on the FreeBSD host remaps the blank domain to the hostname of itself, naturally resulting in an unknown user. The issue can be seen here:

[2013/08/21 09:55:51.305072, 5] auth/auth_util.c:131(make_user_info_map)
Mapped domain from [] to [FSHOST] for user [scan] from workstation [RICOHAFICIO3025]

I have no idea why it is doing this, as I have not configured it to do this, and no other authentication method does this remapping so far as I've seen.

The domain that the FreeBSD authenticates is a SAMBA4 4.0.7 AD Domain. It properly enumerates users and groups, and other file actions against this host using domain authentication work properly.

I am all out of ideas and nobody has even once addressed this, so please lend me your ears and minds.

Thanks
