Connecting my Ubuntu Machine to AD Server 2008

Dear Support:

I read the article on how to auhneticate machines using sambe but am unable
to follow these and I am not understanding the architecture

There is no specific mention on whether I should use a windows/ubuntu
client machine to install samba over it to make it a samba server OR do I
install samba on the AD server

Can you please guide me through this

I urgently need to connect my Ubuntu machine to the domain

Please suggest
