I had opened a bug report about that two weeks ago:
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9365

The main problem I reported, was caused by lost hard links (I updated the 
report about that). But the "can't do changes without restarting samba" 
problem (see comment #2) is still existing.

Do you think, it's better to close #9365 and have this tracked in a new 
ticket? I want to help by with writing tickets. Not confusing the developers :-)
