Hi Jelmer, hi everyone.
The user home directories are automounted. NFS follows symlinks on the 
client. The folders they point to are also autofs'd. Windows follows 
symlinks on the server. But only if we set

  unix extensions = No
  and wide links = Yes

It seems that one can't have both. Securely.

Summary:
NFS follow symilnks on the client
cifs follows symlinks of the server

Is that the problem?
