smdb crashes

Are you also running nmbd or smbd?  What is your smb.conf?

In particular, the 'interfaces' and 'bind interfaces only' lines in your
smb.conf.

I cannot find "WARNING: no socket to connect to" in Samba's sources.  

Where is that message from?
