We really do appreciate your patience and understanding when helping us.

Maybe before a beta tarball, we could get someone to build it:
1. On bare metal as a new install and
2. against a working release to see if anything breaks?
You'd have to be desperate to ask us to do it but we'll volunteer all 
the same.
