As I said in my previous mail, have a look at the network traffic and
see if your forwarding DNS server sends any replies or not.

https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Capture_Packets gives some instructions
on doing this, you need "port 53" if you want to limit the capture to
DNS ports.
