Great.  I do appreciate it will be a difficult and challenging task, but
it is what we need to do.  Please keep me and the list in the loop as you discuss
ideas and approaches, as discussing ideas early will help ensure your
work isn't wasted.

You are welcome to target any version of Samba for your own customers,
that is the freedom that Free software gives you.  But upstream Samba
will only accept changes of this magnitude for master, so for the
patches you wish to discuss with me, and which you wish to propose, they
must be against master.

BTW, I noticed since my last mail that to direct all authentication to
winbindd, you just need to use auth_wbc 'auth methods = wbc'.
