Understood. But renaming the like-named group didn't resolve the issue;
I modified the update script to ignore a user named "bie" and that part
of the conversion completed [I had renamed the group from "bie" to
"biegroup" in LDAP].

I'm completely OK with that restriction; it makes sense to me.
