To run the Samba binaries that are also found in Samba 3.6 (nmbd, smbd),
see the existing Samba documentation, as this behaviour is so far
unchanged. The Samba4 HOWTO in the wiki is for the new components that
form the AD domain controller, and I hope to make this clearer soon.

We are still bedding down how these two sets of technology will be
merged and presented in a final Samba 4.0 release, and hope to write
more about any changes from Samba 3.6 behaviours when we make those
changes.

Part of the challenge here is that BIND 9.8 is not widely available in
distributions. That said, 9.8 is a great improvement and we do need to
update the wiki.

Thanks,

Andrew Bartlett
