SMB2 not used with \\server\share but with \\server.domain\share

Yes, I'm seening the negotiation on protocol in both cases. But the 
problem is that Vista doesn't request SMB2 in the negotiation phase when 
\\server\share syntax is used but on \\server.domain\share syntax it is 
offered by Vista and used by Samba.

Are that maybe some backward compability issues from the protocol 
and/or Vista that when \\server\share syntax is used it CAN'T be SMB2?

Any further ideas?
