It doesn't help

samba stil expands the nested groups.

there is also a difference in the usage of the wbinfo:

If I issue the command:
wbinfo -r j.weijters

I have 44 groups,

but when I issue the command

wbinfo -n j.weijters
I get the SID
and then
wbinfo --users-domgroups <SID>

I am in 30 groups.
one of the 30 groups is a nested group.

lsuser also shows 44 groups.

Try

winbind expand groups = 0
