smbc_open error

Does anyone have information on getting an error when calling smbc_open? A file or directory in the path name does not exist. This same file can be pulled from the same server using command line samba commands. This code using libsmbclient.h has worked fine but now seems to be having an issue with a Windows 2008 server.
