Actually I finished and tested it today, and it's
available as a git-am patch for 3.5.0 in bug:

https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6876

Once Volker has reviewed it'll be ready for merge
for 3.5.0.

I'll work on getting release notes ready for these
new changes for the Feb 16th date.
